DESCRIPTION

The Ultimate Holiday Centerpiece

Bring the steakhouse experience home with our Domestic Whole Lamb Leg. Weighing between 10 and 14 pounds, this impressive cut is the perfect centerpiece for Easter, Passover, or any special family gathering. Sourced from trusted American programs, this lamb offers a clean, natural flavor that is both rich and delicate—making it an approachable choice for guests who may be new to lamb.

Why Choose American Lamb?

Our Domestic Lamb is raised with care on U.S. family farms, free of antibiotics and added hormones. Unlike some imported varieties, American Lamb is known for its milder, more delicate flavor profile. It provides the savory depth of lamb without the stronger "gamey" notes often found in Australian or New Zealand imports, making it a crowd-pleaser for holiday tables.

Sourcing & Quality

We partner with domestic producers who prioritize animal welfare and sustainable land stewardship. This commitment to quality ensures a tender, juicy roast that performs beautifully whether you are slow-braising, classic roasting, or cooking on a rotisserie.

Chef-Recommended Preparation

  • Classic Roast: Season with garlic, rosemary, and olive oil for a timeless, aromatic crust.
  • Slow Braise: Cook low and slow to unlock fall-off-the-bone tenderness and deep savory flavors.
  • Mediterranean Style: Marinate with lemon, oregano, and olive oil for a vibrant, fresh finish.
  • Rotisserie: Ideal for grill masters looking for a juicy, smoky exterior and tender interior.

Frequently Asked Questions

How should I store my lamb leg upon arrival?

If your lamb arrives fresh, cook it within 2–3 days. If it arrives frozen or you plan to cook it later, keep it frozen until you are ready to thaw. Thaw in the refrigerator for 2–3 days before cooking.

What is the difference between American and Imported Lamb?

American Lamb is typically larger in cut and has a milder, more delicate flavor compared to the stronger, more gamey profile often found in Australian or New Zealand lamb. It is an excellent choice for those who want a subtle lamb flavor.

Is this lamb leg bone-in or boneless?

This is a whole leg of lamb, which is typically bone-in. The bone helps conduct heat evenly and adds significant flavor to the roast during cooking.

How many people does a whole leg serve?

A 10–14 lb whole leg can typically serve 12–16 people, depending on portion sizes and whether you are serving other side dishes.

What is the best internal temperature for lamb?

For medium-rare, aim for an internal temperature of 130–135°F. For medium, aim for 135–145°F. Always let the meat rest for 15–20 minutes before carving to retain juices.

Is this lamb antibiotic-free?

Yes. Our Domestic Lamb is sourced from programs that raise their animals free of antibiotics and added hormones.

Can I cook this from frozen?

We strongly recommend thawing the lamb completely in the refrigerator before cooking to ensure even cooking and the best texture.

How long does it take to cook a whole leg?

Cooking time varies by method and oven temperature, but a general rule for roasting at 325°F is approximately 15–20 minutes per pound. Always use a meat thermometer to confirm doneness.

Can't imagine how this could have been better

Arrived frozen and well packaged. We pitted this lamb for 6 hours with onions, carrots, potatoes, and pineapple. Amazingly, it came out perfectly with a variety of doneness ranging from well to medium rare. Used the leftovers for a Greek pita preparation with a dill yogurt sauce and hashbrowns. Unbeatable!

    Delicious!

This is a great whole leg of lamb! No complaints. Good size, well trimmed. Do note that American Lamb tends to be slightly milder than Australian or New Zealand sourced lamb. So if you want a strong lamb flavor you might want to consider a different product.

I smoked this for about 12 hours at 250F. Used fresh thyme, rosemary, garlic salt and pepper. Turned out fantastic!
