Pork Tenderloin | Iberian Duroc

The "Filet Mignon" of Pork

Pork tenderloin is the most tender cut on the hog, prized for its lean texture and delicate flavor. Often called the "filet mignon" of pork, this rarely used muscle runs along the backbone and delivers a succulent eating experience that far surpasses standard grocery store options. Its mild taste makes it an excellent canvas for a wide array of seasonings and marinades, while its size allows it to cook relatively quicklyβ€”perfect for a quick yet elegant meal.

Unlike pork loin, which is larger and can dry out if overcooked, the tenderloin is naturally tender and forgiving. With only about two pounds of tenderloin per hog, this cut is a true specialty item for those who value quality and texture.

Sourced from Niman Ranch’s Iberian Duroc Program

We source our Heritage pork from Niman Ranch, a leader in sustainable and humane animal care. This specific cut comes from their pioneering Iberian Duroc program, which features authenticated Iberian pork genetics exclusive to Niman Ranch. Originally from Spain, this lineage was selectively bred for the U.S. market to deliver robust marbling, rich color, and an exceptional eating experience.

Raised by independent family farmers in the United States, these pigs thrive in an outdoor-based farming model that allows for natural behaviors. They are raised without antibiotics or added hormones, fed a 100% vegetarian diet, and are crate-free with no artificial ingredients. The result is pork with intense marbling and outstanding flavor that offers an unrivaled eating experience.

Cooking & Use Cases

Because of its tenderness, pork tenderloin is incredibly versatile. It lends itself well to a variety of cooking methods, including:

  • Grilling: Sear over high heat for a caramelized crust.
  • Roasting: Cook whole in the oven for a juicy, hands-off meal.
  • SautΓ©ing: Slice into medallions for a quick weeknight dinner.

Whether served as the star of a dinner party or as a simple weeknight meal, Iberian Duroc pork tenderloin is sure to impress with its succulence and taste.

Frequently Asked Questions

What makes Iberian Duroc pork different from regular pork?

Iberian Duroc pork comes from a specific lineage of pigs with Spanish origins, known for their intense marbling and rich flavor. Raised by Niman Ranch family farmers without antibiotics or added hormones, this pork offers a more tender and flavorful experience than conventional commodity pork.

What is the difference between pork tenderloin and pork loin?

Pork tenderloin is a long, thin cut from the muscle that runs along the backbone. It is very tender and lean. Pork loin is a wider, thicker cut from the back of the pig. While both are lean, the tenderloin is much more tender and cooks faster. They are not interchangeable in recipes.

How should I store and thaw my pork tenderloin?

Your pork tenderloin arrives frozen. For best results, thaw it in the refrigerator for 24–48 hours before cooking. Once thawed, it can be kept in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Do not refreeze once thawed.

What is the best way to cook pork tenderloin?

Because it is so lean, pork tenderloin benefits from high-heat searing followed by a gentle finish in the oven. You can also grill it whole or slice it into medallions for quick sautΓ©ing. Avoid overcooking to maintain its juicy texture.

Is this pork raised humanely?

Yes. Niman Ranch pigs are raised by independent family farmers in conditions that allow for natural behaviors, such as being outdoors or in deeply bedded pens. They are crate-free, never given antibiotics or added hormones, and fed a 100% vegetarian diet.

How many people does one tenderloin serve?

A whole pork tenderloin typically weighs between 1 and 1.5 lbs and can serve 2–4 people, depending on side dishes. It is a lean cut, so a little goes a long way.

Can I marinate pork tenderloin?

Absolutely. The mild flavor of pork tenderloin makes it an excellent canvas for marinades. Because it is a lean cut, marinades can help add moisture and flavor. Marinate for 2–4 hours in the refrigerator for best results.

What do customers say about this product?

Customers consistently rate this tenderloin 5 stars, describing it as "absolutely delightful" and "the Real deal" compared to dry grocery store options. Many note its superior tenderness and ease of preparation.

    Delicious!

Absolutely delightful. Marinate. Then a quick sear in a cast iron pan on both sides, and a few minutes in the oven. This was so tender, and enough for two meals. I love it. And will be ordering again.

    Pork tenderloin

I was so tired of buying the grocery store pork tenderloins. They were not good. Too dry and bad consistency. So when I saw M&B offered the pork tenderloin I had to try it. They are the Real deal. Taste and texture of the meat is great. For pork loin lovers this is a must.
