Description of Porchetta | Heritage Breed

    What is Porchetta?

Porchetta is one of the best traditions out of Italy. This culinary delight is made of skin-on pork belly that's been wrapped around a pork loin. It gives you the best of both worlds; the crackling crust of the belly and juicy tender delicious meat inside.

Skin, bacon, ribs and loin; all in one foot long single piece ready to be seasoned with whatever you like. One Porchetta will be enough for 12-16 guests.

How To Use And Cook Porcetta

Porchetta makes AWESOME sandwiches and can even be grilled.

It takes 2-4 hours to get this roast right. You want to cook it until an internal temperature of 180 degrees. This will give you sliceable tender meat.

If you do not have an easy Porchetta recipe, here is one:

    • Remove pork from refrigerator 1 to 2 hours before you want to cook it.
    • Heat oven to 450 degrees.
    • Transfer to a baking sheet and roast 35 minutes.
    • Reduce temperature to 325 degrees and cook an additional 2 hours 45 minutes to 4 hours, until a thermometer inserted into the thickest part of the meat reads 145-150 degrees, which will give you sliceable, tender meat.

We Have Made Porchetta Easy For You

The most difficult part of making Porchetta is getting the pork belly wrapped around the ribs and loin. We have done that for you so all you need to do is marinate and cook.

Because it is already tied, it is best to place it in a bag and stuff it with whatever you like without removing the strings. If you want to go traditional, all you need is garlic, rosemary, fennel, or other herbs.

We made this Porchetta from scratch but that is A LOT of work. It's far easier to start with one of our Porchettas, and if you do want to un-twine it (you don't have to) you have the option to.
