Quality Elk!
Did a reverse sear on the elk filets and they turned out perfect. Very tasty and nutritious, will definitely order again!
elk filet mignon
Thawed beautifully in the fridge, and the color of the raw meat was nice & bright. Great flavor
Really tasty and tender
I gave it a light sous vide and flash sear over charcoal. It was very tender and flavorful.
First time trying Elk & was extremely satisfied
I've decided to try some different meats this year & wanted to try some Elk after having heard great things about it. I ordered two steaks & decided I would marinade each differently to see if there was any gaminess & which was all around better. One was seasoned, then put into a brown sugar & whiskey glaze for 8 hours, while the other was seasoned with sea salt, fresh cracked pepper, garlic powder, & a tiny splash of red wine. Both were cooked over a charcoal & mesquite wood fire to medium rare. They were genuinely some of the most tender & tastey steaks I've ever eaten. In a lot of ways they tasted extremely close to beef which was surprising. I had grilled them alongside a beef ribeye & tried them side-by-side, they really did remind me of beef, just slightly different. Also, I found that the steak marinated with the splash of wine tasted better than the one in brown sugar & whiskey, in case anyone was curious. I would absolutely recommend!
