As Valentine's Day approaches, it's time to think beyond traditional gifts and focus on creating unforgettable experiences. At Meat N’ Bone, we believe that a perfect Valentine’s Day is about sharing love and creating memories.
Frankly, there is nothing more romantic than having a home cooked meal. It also happens to be a lot less expensive than dining out. After all, your "tip" will be in love and tax may be cleaning up the mess you make in the kitchen. But every part of the process is a part of the memories.
Anyhow, we have prepared a little guide so you can impress your significant other.
SET THE MOOD
You go to a restaurant because of the ambiance, most of us do. But it isnt too hard to set the mood.... A beautifully set table, dim lighting, and soft music can transform your dining space into a romantic haven. Don’t forget a centerpiece of fresh flowers to add a touch of elegance.
GREAT FOOD
The food is important, but the intention is what matters. You did not cook the perfect steak or fish? That's fine. What matters is you TRIED to do it... and that goes a long way... and when you start with amazing ingredients and keep it simple.... the result will be good.
Valentine’s Day calls for something extraordinary. Consider these premium options:
Charcuterie Delight: Begin with a charcuterie board loaded with artisanal cheeses, cured meats, and some exotic accompaniments. Another option for appetizers are our ready to eat Carpaccios or Tatakis. Just garnish and serve.
For Steak Lovers: A tender filet mignon or a juicy ribeye can be a show-stopper. These cuts are not only flavorful but also symbolize the indulgence of the occasion. Some people find love when sharing a Porterhouse steak
Seafood Specials: Opt for something lighter yet luxurious like salmon or lobster tails. They pair wonderfully with a glass of white wine or champagne.
Mix it up... Reef & Beef or Surf & Turf. Any of the steaks with a nice lobster tail or tiger prawn.
COOKING TO IMPRESS
Cooking together can be a fun and intimate activity. Perhaps cook together, its a fun way to bond. Here are some quick tips:
-
Seasoning is Key: Keep it simple with salt, pepper, and maybe a hint of garlic. Let the natural flavors of the proteins shine. Particularly when using proteins like the ones from Meat N' Bone.
-
Grilling Perfection: If you choose to grill, remember that patience is vital. Ensure your meat is at room temperature before it hits the grill and let it rest afterward.
- Seafood Cooking: Seafood cooks quickly, so keep an eye on it to avoid overcooking. Lemon, butter, and herbs are great companions for most seafood.
- Hardware: If you are cooking to impress... You definitely need to consider having a GOOD knife (we sell some of the best in the world). If you are looking for the perefect sear, you should consider the Otto Wilde Broiler
WINE PAIRING
Selecting the right wine can elevate your meal. A robust red wine like Cabernet Sauvignon pairs well with steaks, while a crisp Chardonnay complements seafood. A good champagne works as well. Champagne is always a fit.. and we do have an amazing offering!
DESSERT
End on a sweet note with a simple yet elegant dessert. Chocolate fondue with fruits, a classic tiramisu, or a cheese platter can be delightful choices.
PERSONAL TOUCH
Personalize your evening with a hand-written note or a custom playlist of songs that are special to both of you.
